During his 31-year career, David M. Efland, FAICP has transformed communities and planning through innovation, preservation, mentorship, and leadership by: Currently serving as Westerville, Ohio’s Planning and Development Director and previously as Delaware, Ohio’s Planning Director for 18 years establishing Downtown Delaware as an award winning Great Place in America and Ohio; Leading historic preservation and innovation initiatives in multiple cities; Leading comprehensive plans in Oxford, Ohio and Delaware, Ohio and re-writing the City of Cincinnati’s zoning code for the first time in 35 years; Serving as an APA leader, at various levels, throughout his career including advocacy to help save planning in Cincinnati; Advocating for the profession and mentoring planners throughout Ohio. He was inducted into the American Planning Association’s College of Fellows Class of 2022, the highest honor bestowed to a member by the American Institute of Certified Planners.

Kerry Gerich, PLA, ASLA, CLARB

Kerry Gerich is a Project Manager with Environmental Design Group and a graduate of The Ohio State University’s Landscape Architecture program. Kerry’s diverse experience in horticulture and environmental design provides a nuanced perspective to the collaborative process, with a focus on sustainability. Kerry enjoys volunteering with professional and community organizations and serves on the Knowlton Alumni Society Executive Board, The Ohio Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects Board and is a Master Gardener volunteer. In her free time, you can find Kerry in her garden or traveling to new places.

Project Manager, San Francisco Recreation & Park Department

Eoanna Harrison Goodwin, AIA is a licensed architect and Project Manager at the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department whose journey can be characterized by her commitment to civic design. Overseeing a diverse team of architects, landscape architects, and construction professionals, Eoanna’s role encompasses the vast realm of recreational centers, public restrooms, parks, playgrounds, and associated structures. In 2023, she spoke at the AIA Conference on Architecture on the Design & Impact of Public Restrooms. Before her current position, she dedicated a decade to the Bureau of Architecture under San Francisco Public Works. Within this department, she spearheaded the design of civic amenities, contributing significantly to the City’s architectural landscape with her work ranging from recreation centers, homeless transitional housing, and a museum. Eoanna received a B.S. in Architecture from The Ohio State University Knowlton School of Architecture graduating cum laude with a distinction in honors and an M.Arch from the University of California Los Angeles School of Architecture and Urban Design. Between her undergraduate and graduate studies, she spent a year as a Construction Crew Leader for Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley. In addition to her work for the City & County of San Francisco, Goodwin taught design-build studios at the Academy of Art University and recently helped start the Women in Architecture group at American Institute of Architects East Bay chapter with a mission to connect, elevate, support, and celebrate women in the field.

After gaining experience in development and residential-based firms, Joe Berardi transitioned to Berardi + Partners in 2009. Within the firm, Joe holds the position of Principal, playing a pivotal role in overseeing daily operations with a keen focus on design strategies, technological advancements, staffing, logistical efficiency, and community outreach initiatives. His responsibilities also include historic preservation endeavors. Joe has contributed significantly to the rehabilitation of numerous historical projects not only in Ohio but also across the nation, showcasing his dedication to preserving historic spaces. Furthermore, Joe’s commitment to community engagement is evident through his involvement in mentoring programs for high school and college students, as well as his role on a local design commission, where he advocates for thoughtful urban development and design excellence.

Roxyanne Cartier Burris

Roxyanne C. Burrus currently teaches City and Regional Planning principles and practices to undergraduate students earning their bachelor’s degrees at OSU. Ms Burrus also owns a consulting business, Cartier Burrus LLC, and a newly formed travel business. A graduate of UCLA with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Ms. Burrus also earned a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University. She has a 30-year career in government and most notably held executive level positions as a Neighborhood Department Administrator and Regional Planning Director for Seneca County, Ohio. Through-out her career she skillfully managed long-range community and neighborhood planning, review of zoning and variance applications and subdivision regulations, administered Historic Preservation, Code Enforcement, Neighborhood Planning, Community Revitalization, Affordable Housing and Non-profit grant administration. She created neighborhood scale community reinvestment and redevelopment implementation plans and worked on major undertakings inclusive of a major Comprehensive Plan, Downtown Strategic Plan, Zoning Code Revision, and Affordable Housing Consolidated Plan Programs for a very large municipality. As an Instructor at The Ohio State University Ms. Burrus has taught a variety of courses. Over the years her studio class students have completed Downtown Strategic plans, a County Economic Development Plan, Comprehensive Plans for Villages and neighborhoods, a Zoning Update Plan and Implementation Strategies for Age Friendly living. Ms Burrus has also created, directed, and administered neighborhood focused services and programs. She successfully created and managed neighborhood programs that received national acknowledgement and is a recipient of numerous accolades and awards for her significant accomplishments and volunteer work. Ms. Burrus is on the Franklin County Planning Commission and has a long history of non-profit board membership, volunteerism with Franklin County and her local community in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. where she currently holds a National Office, and a life-long member of St. Paul AME Church. She is proud mother to a son and daughter, both married, and has four beautiful grandchildren.


Timothy Fishking, FAIA, NCARB

Tim Fishking’s career has spanned 40 years of practice, engaging in projects ranging from mixed use high-rise, higher education, and healthcare. For a majority of his career Tim has focused on healthcare design that emboldens individuals and neighborhoods to pursue a higher quality of living. He knows that good design influences human emotion and provides a sense of wellbeing and safety. As a Partner with Moody Nolan, and Healthcare Practice Leader, Tim holds dear the opportunity to design for communities in need. He is driven by the desire to advance health equity and reposition the way healthcare facilities are viewed. For Tim, healthcare is a holistic and all encompassing journey. He is an advocate for the accessibility of space, and believes in the transformational power of a neighborhood in harmony. Tim is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from The Ohio State University, and has been active with the Knowlton School Alumni Society for many years


Josh Helms

Josh has over 20 years of experience in all areas of landscape architecture ranging from large planning projects to small urban design projects. As the Director of Design for OHM’s planning and landscape architecture studio, Josh is intricately involved in the conceptual design and schematic design phases of projects and stays involved through construction administration to ensure continuity and provide his clients a seamless design experience. Josh’s creative vision and problem-solving ability allow him to develop unique and thoughtful solutions for clients. He has been involved with the Knowlton Alumni Association School Board of Governors for the past seven years and holds a BS in Landscape Architecture from the Knowlton School.


Alyssa Ingrassia

Senior Landscape Designer, RVI Planning & Landscape Architecture

Alyssa Ingrassia is a Senior Landscape Designer at RVI Planning & Landscape Architecture. Her work lies in master planned landscape design, urban infill, amenity planning, and community theming with integrated design. Holding a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the Knowlton School, her work focuses on spatial interaction, accessibility, and connection. Alyssa dedicates her practice to creating outdoor spaces that enrich the communities they serve and believes that cohesive designs balancing art and landscape architecture lead to impactful and enduring projects.


Thomas Lanzelotti, AIA, CSI, CDT

Principal at Gensler

Tom Lanzelotti is a Design Realization Principal with Gensler where his technical expertise and design sensibility are invaluable in translating client requirements and designer concepts into built environments during the design, documentation, and delivery phases. His knowledge of construction technologies, extensive field experience and ability for working with contractors allows him to excel in construction administration and the on-site field management of multi-phase, complex projects.
As a Leader in the delivery of corporate headquarters projects, Tom works closely with the design and construction teams in the creation of office environments from the inside out providing building design consultation services on high profile projects such as Skadden Arps at Four Times Square, the New York Time Headquarters, the Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park, and Time Warner at Hudson Yards. A member of Gensler’s Firmwide Design Synergy Leadership, Tom collaborates with other Design Discipline leaders (Experience, Management, Performance & Purpose) in the exploration and development of integrated design + delivery strategies for the firm. Additionally, Tom focuses on Talent Development for the Gensler Northeast Region, assisting in the mentoring of young professionals through the development of comprehensive, multi-discipline, in-house learning programs and real project experience; and is the Technical Advisor to the Gensler Northeast Region Legal Counsel and the Gensler Northeast Region Product Development Team.
An active member in the Construction Specifications Institute, Tom currently serves as the Director from the Northeast Region on the CSI National Board of Directors.


Jalen Miller

Jalen Miller works as a Planner at Toole Design, where he enjoys bridging gaps within communities. He uses his talents in public engagement, planning, and urban design to improve community creation. Jalen is passionate about connecting people to the built environment in a safe and equitable manner. He holds a BS in Landscape Architecture from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, as well as a Master of City and Regional Planning from Knowlton. Jalen also serves as Section Vice-Chair of Planning & Zoning Workshop on the American Planning Association board (APA) Central Ohio board.


Kevin Parzych, AIA, LEED AP BD+C

Principal, GUNZELMAN architecture + interiors

Kevin Parzych is an architect living and working in Columbus OH. Kevin graduated from Knowlton in 2009 from the undergraduate architecture program and in 2011 from the graduate program. Kevin is a principal at GUNZELMAN architecture + interiors, a full-service architectural firm located in the Merion Village neighborhood on Columbus’s south side. Kevin’s past professional experience includes work for KOO LLC in Chicago IL from 2011-2018 and 2 years at the Columbus Neighborhood Design Center from 2008-2010. Kevin served as President of the Knowlton School Alumni Society in 2021, he also served as the Vice President in 2020 and 2022. Kevin and his partner Jenna also live in Merion Village and have two kids, George and Millie.


Michael Roush, FAIA LEED AP

Program Manager with UC San Diego Capital Program Management

Michael Roush has spent much of his career focusing on practice and project management, with the goal of creating more predictable outcomes. After spending more than twenty years in traditional practice, he joined UC San Diego’s Capital Program Management in 2008 to focus on the Jacobs Medical Center Expansion, which at that time represented over half of the University’s Capital Building Program. He is currently focused on expanding the use of data analytics to bring transparency and clarity to capital programs and shares these concepts at national, state, and local conferences. Michael is active in the AIA at all levels and is the current Vice President of the Construction Owners Association of America’s California Chapter. In 2022, he was inducted into the AIA College of Fellows.


ElDante C Winston Ph.D, NOMA

Assistant Professor, Kansas State University

ElDanté is an assistant professor of architecture where he teaches design studios and architectural history. His ongoing research interests lie in challenging the historical narrative of the Renaissance and expanding the global architectural relevance of this period by exploring the dynamic geo-political factors that shaped the time. The work stems from his doctoral research that looked at Renaissance architecture within the violent context of the period, examining war, corporal punishment, and vengeance as crucial elements to the meaning of Renaissance architecture. ElDanté is also a licensed architect with more than 20 years of experience and has worked for firms in Chicago and Boston. Though a full-time academic, he maintains a small practice doing custom residential projects and working with small family-owned companies. ElDante’ received his doctorate in the History, Theory, and Criticism of Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and holds an M.A. in Architectural History from the University of Virginia, an M. Arch from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a B.S. in Architecture from The Ohio State University.


W. Kenneth Wiseman, FAIA

Ken likes to describe himself as a “curious fellow” which perfectly defines his approach to developing creative solutions spanning his distinguished career. Above all else, Ken is place maker who conceives and implements innovative, design solutions tailored to the people using them. He has a substantial record of innovative award-winning places and spaces that solve serious ecological, technological, functional, and contextual challenges. His curiosity is contagious and extends to his teams, colleagues, and clients. Ken prides himself most on his lasting client relationships spanning decades resulting in long term transformations of their environments.
Ken’s places are inherently beautiful and healthy. His portfolio includes multiple LEED Platinum buildings in diverse climates and geographies, including the first Double Platinum student union. His architecture is expressive and has incorporated first of their kind innovations, including the first precast dome ever constructed, a university cooling system that utilizes the temperature differentials embodied in a public grey water system to achieve free cooling and the largest wood roof ever built.
His design of the Richmond Oval, the speed skating venue for the Vancouver Olympic Games, defined a new paradigm of Olympic buildings that lives on to this day. The Oval received Global recognition as one of the most influential sport facilities of the last hundred years.
